HOVU produces mechanically recovered meat for the food processing industry. Our clients include international manufacturers of snacks, sausages and minced meat-based food products. In addition, our firm supplies the pet food industry with raw materials.
We offer our mechanically recovered meat as 5, 3 and 1-millimetre products.
Our 5 and 3-millimetre mechanically recovered meat is offered as Type 3 products:
- Permitted for use in meat products and meat preparations that still need to undergo heat treatment (by the end user) before they are fit for consumption;
- Labelling: needs to be separately labelled ‘mechanically separated pork’ in the ingredients statement;
- Labelling: may be included in the product’s total meat content; does however need to be labelled separately;
- Minimal changes to the cell structure, meaning that meat tissue characteristics are preserved;
- Available as 5 and 3-millimetre products.
Our 1 millimetre mechanically recovered meat is offered as a Type 4 product:
- Permitted for use in meat products that have undergone heat treatment;
- Labelling: needs to be separately labelled ‘mechanically separated pork’ in the ingredients statement;
- Labelling: needs to be labelled separately and may not be included in the product’s total meat content;
- Cell structure is destroyed during production, resulting in an emulsified meat paste;
- Available as 1-millimetre filtered paste.
